Hi lovely people, i hope you are coping well with the pandemic, either way, we already in December, that itself is nothing short of a miracle if you have gone out, trying to grocery shop for basic things and if you have children. 2020 has felt like a whole decade! I thought of including book reviews on my blog update since i actually do a lot of reading, even though i am more of a non-fictional person. My life is so focused on reading about the world it already exists or has happened at least like biographies but being more…

By now, it is no longer news, that a 46% increase transport fare increase has been approved by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos; this applies to buses operated by Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL). This will take effect from August 1, as announced by Kolawole Ojelabi, the assistant director, corporate communication, at the Lagos Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LAMATA). The reason for this, he argued that LBSL is utilizing only 14 percent of busload factor with only 20 passengers per trip in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. …

I actually wrote this post way back in August 2017 on my older blogging platform, i updated it and wanted to share it again.

Do you ever what is wrong with being black or why you were born black? It is annoying but true. You can resist it; talk yourself out of it but the truth so remains. You may have asked what is wrong with the black man, where exactly did we miss it that we all seem to be experiencing similar backdrop the world over. Anything black is associated with evil or something negative or something bad. The…

The outbreak of the novel corona virus has resulted in the collapse of economies worldwide. According to UNDP, human development is on the major decline for the first time in 30 years and poor countries are the most affected. The COVID-19’s global death toll has already exceeded 300,000 people and there is an expected four percent fall in per capita income this year. As countries across the world re-strategize to re-open economic activities and borders, many poor countries like Nigeria which already have a very significant poverty rate per capita are faced with issues further complicated by the outbreak. Nigeria…

As one of the fastest-growing cities in the world, Nigeria’s larger than life biggest economic hub with such a reputation that precedes it far beyond the shores of the Atlantic must make a full strategic shift towards the Sustainable development Goals indicators and focus less on Gross Domestic Product; GDP, a standard for measuring economic growth rate. It can also be the monetary value of all finished goods and services made within a country during a specific period. With an unofficial population of over 21 million as of 2015 and more Lagosians sinking into poverty, there must be a change…

The Sun is always up in the sky with longer daylight this period and if you have experienced the darkness in Swedish winter, how cold, dark, lonely and energy-draining it can be, then you really understand what the sun means. It is everything! We soak it up and we don’t complain….who complains about spring and summer anyway? The best part of the year, if you ask me. For a unique year like 2020, being able to go out for a walk albeit with the social distancing is something not to take for granted. But again, social distancing in Sweden comes…

Hello everyone, i hope you are holding on really fine? i thought of sharing some of my favourite Swedish things while still studying here in Uppsala, Sweden. The coronavirus has not exactly been easy, the global pandemic takes a toll on everyone and so you just have to find the positives to push through. Classes are now online 100% and it is hard…very hard to adjust. The goal is to stay alive because after all this life continues, you do your best not to miss out on that. …

I open my Twitter timeline and i scroll down seeing stories of day and night robberies in the lock-down; some robbers i read come in groups of 20 and even more, robbing entire neighborhood unchallenged. Nigerians are beginning to understand why the “i better pass my neighbor” lifestyle, mindset is dangerous. Whatever affects your neighbor, somehow will eventually get to you. When we close our eyes and ears to injustice, the pain will eventually go round. Today is supposed to be Easter celebrations but no thanks to the lock-down, most people are indoors. Happy Easter by the way.

“I better…

The Coronavirus siege is serious than we envisaged. It continues to spread and new strains of mutation are defying scientific boundaries. It is no longer a case of this virus being “just the flu”, it may not be as deadly as Ebola virus or SARS or the Foot and Mouth Disease scare, yet the fact that non-infected people can spread it is the craziest thing about it and you can even be infected without showing symptoms. It is important to stay indoors if you have no need to be out and if you are sick. …

There is always something new and scary about COVID-19 every day. The threshold is probably not even close.

The fear of Coronavirus is now officially the beginning of hygiene wisdom. It is so serious no one is even making jokes about it anymore. As much as 95,000 plus people have already been infected with this virus and it keeps spreading across the globe. COVID-19 is probably worse than people imagined but the panic itself is worse than the impact of the virus. 3,286 deaths have been linked to the virus and 53,423 individuals have recovered from COVID-19 according to livescience.com
